an|ti|lock brakes «AN tee LOK»,
a system of brakes on a motor vehicle that prevents loss of traction while braking, especially on an icy or wet road surface. A computer adjusts brake pressure on the wheels to keep them from locking into one position, causing the vehicle to skid.
